Our Story

SafeHouse Farm Alpacas is an alpaca farm in Barrington, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago. Step through the gates and you're greeted by confident, happy animals, eager to interact with you. You'll meet alpacas, horses, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, turkeys, pigs, miniature Hereford steers and a donkey. In the fall of 2024, we welcomed a beautiful female, Dolce to our herd.

SafeHouse Farm Alpacas began 15 years ago, breeding the highest quality of alpacas and improving the national herd. Our current herd is a mix of pet, hobby, and show-quality alpacas. We continue to breed for fineness and have evolved into a mentoring and teaching farm. Our goal is to help those with alpacas learn best practices and assist those thinking about starting an alpaca business. We strive to educate visitors about all the animals on our farm, including proper care, handling, and feeding techniques. We believe interacting with our animals builds compassion, confidence, and understanding. 

There is so much beauty to experience at SafeHouse Farm Alpacas. We are a small farm able to give personal attention to those who visit. Your time at our farm is yours, and we tailor the experience to what you want and need. We would love to welcome you through our gates soon!
